Places to be Visited Near Hyderabad : Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, Ethipothala Water Falls

After long search finally I found few placed to be visited near Hyderabad. If you want to go for family trip Ramoji Film city can be good option. If you want Biking then check out Ananthgiri.
It was around mid of march, holi was about to come so along with my team mets we decided to visit Nagarjuna Sagar Dam,  which is the world's largest stone masonry dam at the time of its construction and still currently holds the record of being the tallest masonry dam.

This mighty Nagarjuna dam, which was completed in 1969, owing to its confounding height of 124 meters, and 1 km long, and has 26 crest gates. Nagarjunasagar Dam can store up to 11, 472 million cubic meters in its reservoir.

Major Attraction: There are motorboats running on diesel fuel that operate between Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir and the island of Nagarjunakonda.

Motor Boat Timing:
Each one way journey is around 45 minutes. It starts at 9:30 am , every hour or so a boat leaves from the boat launch point at Nagarjuna Sagar. The last boat around 5:30 pm.
Cost:
Boat ride + museum visit ticket will cost you around 90 Rs, same ticket is used for return journey.

Island museum (Nagarjunakonda Museum):
In the midst of the man-made Nagarjunasagar lake, the museum houses a stupendous collection of relics of Buddhist art and culture. Famous relics include a small tooth and an ear-ring believed to be of the Buddha.

Ethipothala:
Ethipothala is a mountain stream cascading down the hills from a height of 21.3 meters into a lagoon. This waterfall is a combination of three streams namely Chandravanka Vagu, Nakkala Vagu & Tummala Vagu.

Dazzling Lagoon: The dazzling lagoon formed by the falls has a crocodile-breeding center.

Where to stay:   If traveling with families then Haritha Resorts is the best bet. Don't plan over nite stay at Ethipothala because its too remote a place with no crowd at all. Not worth it. Carry cool clothes because it gets hotter as day progresses. Carry mosquito repellents.

How To Reach There:

By Air: Hyderabad is the nearest airport to Nagarjuna Sagar.

By Road: Nagarjuna Sagar is located 150 km from Hyderabad. There are regular buses from    Hyderbad and Guntur to Nagarjuna Sagar. The best and cheapest way to travel, is to take a bus till Nagarjunasagar. APSRTC buses leave every hour, from Hyderabad to Nagarjunasagar. The fare for express buses is Rs. 44, Rs. 52 for luxury buses and Rs. 59 for the hi-tech buses.

By Rail: Macherla is 24 km from Nagarjuna Sagar which is nearest station.
