One among the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, the holiest of shrines in the Hindu religion and a very significant destination of the Chardham quartet, the majestic Kedarnath temple sits at a high altitude of 3583 mts above sea level surrounded by the mighty peaks of the Himalayas near the Mandakini river in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand in India.

Legend Behind Kedarnath Temple:-

The origin of the revered temple can be found in the great epic - Mahabharata. According to legends, the Pandavas sought the blessings of lord Shiva to atone their sin after the battle of Mahabharata. Lord Shiva eluded them repeatedly and while fleeing took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed, he dived into ground leaving behind his hump on the surface. The remaining portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four other places and are worshipped there as his manifestations.The arms appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madmaheshwar and his locks (hair) with head at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath and the four above mentioned shrines are treated as Panch Kedar.

Structure of Kedarnath Temple:-

Kedarnath Shrine is scenically placed amidst the lofty, snow - covered mountains and grassy meadows covering the valleys. Immediately behind the temple is the high Keadardome peak, which can be sighted from great distances. It is believed that the temple of Kedarnath was constructed by the Pandavas. At the entrance of the temple is the statue of Nandi, the divine bull of Shiva. Walls inside the temple are exquisitely carved with images. The revered Shiva Lingam housed in the temple is in the unusual pyramidal form.

Best Time to visit:-

The ideal time or peak season to go for a Char Dham Yatra is from May to October, except monsoons. This is because; all the four sacred sites are perched in Garhwal Himalayas, which is prone to heavy snowfall. As a result, all the passage leading to the shrines are blocked. Moreover, during the monsoon season, there is undue threat of having landslides, which can further disrupt the journey. For safety reasons, the gates of the temples are also closed for this period of time and the idols are shifted to nearby pilgrim points.

Note:-Kedarnath Temple is open for devotees from 6 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 8 pm.Shingar Darshan is from 5 pm onwards and Aarti is performed at 6:45 pm. Sharavani Annakoot Mela is celebrated on the day before Raksha Bandhan during August. Special Samadhi puja is help on the closing day of Kedarnath

By Road:

Pilgrimage Attractions near Kedarnath

Shankaracharya Samadhi

Behind the Kedarnath Temple lies the samadhi or the final resting place of Adi Guru Shankaracharya. It is believed, after establishing the four dhams in India, he went for his samadhi at an early age of 32 years.

Excursions Chorabari (Gandhi Sarovar) (2 kms.)

A small lake from where Yudhishthir, the eldest of the Pandavas, is believed to have departed to heaven. The floating ice on the sparkling waters of the lake is a fascinating sight.

Vasuki Tal (6 kms.)

A picturesque lake, 4,135 mts. above sea level is encircled by lofty mountains and offers a commanding view of the Chaukhamba peaks.

Gaurikund (14 kms.)

The trekking base to Kedarnath. A temple dedicated to Gauri and thermal springs of medicinal value are noteworthy.

Sonprayag (20 kms.)

The confluence of Son Ganga and Mandakini rivers. The road to Triyuginarayan diverts from here.

Triyuginarayan (25 kms.)

A 5 kms. trek from Sonprayag, it is the mythological venue of the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.An eternal flame, which is said to have been a witness to the marriage, burns in front of the temple even today.

Guptkashi (49 kms.)

The temples of Ardhnarishwar and Vishwanath are noteworthy.

Ukshimath (60 kms)

Winter home of the deity of the Kedarnath Temple and the seat of the Rawal of Kedarnath.

Agastyamuni (73 kms.)

Famous for the temple dedicated to sage Agastya.

Chandrashila (93 kms.)

The Chandrashila peak provides a rare view of snow-clad peaks. The rhododendron Forests and alpine meadows dominate the trek fromTungnath to Chandrashila.

Deoria Tal (68 kms.)

Sari village is the last bus terminus on Chopta-Ukhimath road from where a 2 kms. trek leads to Deoria Tal. This beautiful lake at an altitude of 2,438 mts. gives the spectacular reflection of snow capped peaks in the lake water. Ideal spot for angling and bird watching.

1). Sachin Tendulkar (India): 200* vs South Africa in Gwalior on Feb 24, 2010 - Tendulkar carried his bat as he became the first batsman in the history of one-day internationals to score a double century. He faced 147 balls in his innings and hit 25 boundaries and 3 sixes as India posted an imposing 401 for 3 on the board. In reply, South Africa was all out for 248 in 42.5 overs with only AB de Villiers (114*) offering any resistance, but this match was all about Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.

2). Charles Coventry (Zimbabwe): 194* vs Bangladesh in Bulawayo on Aug 16, 2009 - Coventry was an unknown quantity in international cricket before this knock, and he has hardly done anything worth a mention since; but he wrote his name in cricket's record books with a 156 ball-194*, which contained 16 boundaries and 7 sixes. The next highest score in Zimbabwe's total of 312 for 8 was Stuart Matsikenyeri's 37. Despite Coventry's heroics, Zimbabwe lost the match thanks to Tamim Iqbal's 154 as Bangladesh won by four wickets and 13 balls to spare.

3). Saeed Anwar (Pakistan): 194 vs India in Chennai on May 21, 1997 - Anwar broke Sir Viv Richards' 13-year old record for the highest score in ODIs at the time and his 194 (146 balls, 22x4, 5x6) helped Pakistan score 327 for 5; and despite Rahul Dravid's 107, India lost the match by 35 runs.

4). VIV Richards (West Indies): 189* vs England in Manchester on May 31, 1984 - This is easily one of the greatest ODI innings of all time. Sir Viv walked in with the score at 11 for 2 and then watched from the other end as West Indies collapsed to 166 for 9. He then decided to impose himself on the English attack and did so in style as Richards and Michael Holding (12*) put on an unbroken 106-run partnership for the last wicket. Richards hit 21 boundaries and 5 sixes in his memorable knock to help West Indies score 272 for 9 in 55 overs. His assault must have broken the England team's spirit for they hardly put up a fight and were bundled out for 168 with Richards taking 2-45 in his 11 overs.

5). Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka): 189 vs India in Sharjah on October 29, 2000 - Jayasuriya had established himself as one of the most intimidating opening batsmen in world cricket by this time and in the Coca-Cola Champions Trophy final against India, he carted the Indian bowlers all over the stadium and sent the fielders on a leather hunt en route to a 161-ball 189 that contained 21 hits to the fence and four over it. Jayasuriya's assault meant India had to chase 300 to win the tournament, but Chaminda Vaas (5-14) and Muttiah Muralitharan (3-6) bundled the opposition out for 54 in 26.3 overs to give Sri Lanka victory by 245 runs.

Gary Kirsten (South Africa): 188* vs UAE in Rawalpindi on Feb 16, 1996 - This World Cup clash was always going to be a mismatch and Kirsten treated the UAE bowling attack with utter disdain as he carried his bat to remain 188 not out (159 balls, 13x4, 4x6) as South Africa amassed 321 for 2 and went on to thrash the minnows by 169 runs.

7). Sachin Tendulkar (India): 186* vs New Zealand in Hyderabad on Nov 8, 1999 - This match is mainly remembered for Tendulkar's unbeaten 186 (150 balls, 20x4, 3x6); but it is often forgotten that he shared a 331-run partnership with Rahul Dravid, who made 153 in as many deliveries. Tendulkar and Dravid's partnership saw India post an imposing 376 for 2 on the board. New Zealand was never in the run chase as they lost wickets at regular intervals before being bowled out for 202 in 33.1 overs.

8). Shane Watson (Australia): 185* vs Bangladesh in Dhaka on April 11, 2011 - In a savage attack on the Bangladesh bowling attack, Watson hit 15 boundaries and 15 sixes (a record in ODIs) in his 185* off only 96 deliveries. Watson's knock was also the highest by an Australian in ODIs. He completed his sixth one-day hundred off just 69 balls, the third-fastest by an Australian after Matthew Hayden (66 balls) and Adam Gilchrist (67 balls).

9). MS Dhoni (India): 183* vs Sri Lanka in Jaipur on Oct 31, 2005 - Kumar Sangakkara's 138* and his 151-run partnership for the third wicket with Mahela Jayawardene (71) saw Sri Lanka post a total of 298 for 4. Sri Lanka may have thought they had done enough to win the match, but a young upstart by the name of MS Dhoni had other ideas as he led India's run-chase with a fabulous 183* off 145 balls (15x4, 10x6) as the hosts overhauled the score with six wickets to spare in 46.1 overs.

10). Sourav Ganguly (India): 183 vs Sri Lanka in Taunton on May 26, 1999 - Another match in which Rahul Dravid made a century, but his innings was overshadowed by a magnificent ton from somebody else. That somebody else, in this match, happened to be Ganguly who scored 183 in 158 balls with 17 boundaries and 7 sixes. Ganguly and Dravid (145) added 318 runs for the second wicket as India amassed 373 for 6. Robin Singh's 5-31 saw Sri Lanka bowled out for 216 as India won this World Cup Group A match by 157 runs.

It has been a long time i visited to new place.Now I shifted to Hyderabad.the friends with whom I live are generally have to work in shift so many time we tried to go out but program failed.Finally my wish come true and my team decided to go for outing. There are almost 9 memebers in my team. After a long discussion we decided to go to Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. As holy was about to come so we deceide that we will go there and have a fun in dam and waterfall.

In the moring we were suppose to start at 5AM.I was dam sure that I would not make to wake up in Morning. so I asked to all my team mets when they will leave from their home Give me a call.So finally I wake up When my frnds started calling me. Around 6:30 they came to near by my home.Then we started our journey.

We were total 9 members. Around 20 km we travelled then we stopped for Breakfast. every body had Breakfast but the menu was limited to Vada Sambhar,Idaly Wada and Dosa only.

First we reached to Boating Point from tere arround 45 mins travel in the Boat we reached to Nagarjuna konda island. A boat ride would take you to the island, a place with the most beautiful landscape. This place of global recognition and scenic countryside should not be missed during your trip to Andhra Pradesh. On the Island There is one famous Buddhist relics and an exquisite museum.

1-Ingredients for Bati

1- For Atta (flour) dough:

1½ cup: Whole wheat atta (Littis are more crunchy if made with maida)

¾ to 1 cup: Regular or fat-free yogurt (dahi)(Make dough from atta using yogurt and NOT water. The dough should be soft and fully kneaded. Keep aside covered.)

2- For Filling:

1 cup: Sattu (a special gram flour)

4 cloves: Garlic, finely chopped

1 inch: Ginger, finely chopped

2 or more: Green chilies, finely chopped

½ cup: Fresh dhaniya (cilantro) leaves, finely chopped

½ tsp: Mangrella (nigella or onion seed)

2 tbsp: Mustard

1 tsp: Ajwain (thyme)

1 tbsp: Lemon juice

1 or 2 tbsp: Mircha achar masala (fillings from the red chili pickle)

Salt to taste

Method

1.Mix all the filling ingredients with sattu together nicely.

2.Add ¼ to ½ cup water to make the stuffing moist and easy to fill.

3.Now make 8 balls from the atta (flour) dough.

4.Dust each ball with dry atta and make a patty roughly 2.5" to 3" diameter in size with hand. 5.You don't need a belan (rolling pin) for this.

6.Stuff 2 to 3 tsp sattu filling in the center of the patty and close it from all sides.

7.When all the littis are stuffed, pre-heat the oven to 375 F and put all the litties on a foil and bake till one side is brown or black spots come on the litti surface.

8.Then turn over the litti and bake for few more minutes until that side is brown as well.

9.Take out and dip in pure ghee or butter and serve with achar or dhaniya (cilantro) chutney and/or baigan ka bhurta (mashed and prepared egg-plant).

Chokha

Ingredients for chokha

2 : Brinjals (large, seedless, healthy)

3/4 cup: Onions (finely chopped)

1/2 cup: Tomato (finely chopped)

1 tsp: Garlic (grated)

1 tsp: Ginger (grated)

2 : Red chillies (dried crushed)

1 tsp: Cumin seeds

1 tsp: Red chilli powder

1 tsp: Dhania powder

1/2 tsp: Turmeric powder

1/2 tsp: Cinnamon-clove powder

1/2 tsp: Punjabi garam masala powder

Salt to taste

2 tsp: Lemon juice

2 tsp: Ghee

2 tsp: Oil

Method

1.Hold the brinjals with stems over fire, to burn skin. (Or run a few drops of oil, microwave in a loose-lid bowl for 3 minutes).

2.When skin blackens, hold under running water.

3.Skin will not blacken if microwaved. Therefore peel.

4.Gently scrub off skin. Mash brinjals to a puree.

5.Heat oil in a heavy kadai. Add ginger garlic and stirfry for a minute.

6.Add onions, all dry masalas, except red chilli powder, stirfry for a minute more.

7.Add tomatoes, brinjals, salt, lemon juice and stir.Simmer for five minutes.

8.Take in serving bowl.

9.Just before serving, heat ghee in a small pan.

10.Hold pan over bowl, add chilli powder, and pour immediately over bhartha.

11.Do not allow the chilli powder to burn.

12.Garnish with chopped coriander.

13.Serve hot with Litti.

Fort Vasota (Vyaghragad) +Tracking Places in Maharastra/India

Vasota is also known as Vyaghragad (fortress of the Tiger).

About the Fort:

A trek to Vasota is one of the most thrilling and enchanting treks in Maharashtra. Located about 350 Kms from Mumbai, it is a protected natural reserve and a national treasure nest. The blue-green expanse of Koyna backwaters, the evergreen forests of Koyna wildlife sanctuary, hike to Vasota fort hidden in thick jungle, the spectacular view from top of the fort along with the beauty and serenity of the place leaves one spell bound.

Experience nature at its best!! Serene wilderness and mesmerizing surroundings. Add to it the adventure of climbing Vasota and learning about our history, life and times of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the association and contribution of Marathas to the fort.

Historical snapshot - Vasota fort is attributed to the Kolhapur Shilahara Raja Bhoja II (1178-1193) of Panhala. Vasota always remained with Marathas, Shirkes & Mores in 16th century & then incorporated in Swarajya by Shivaji Maharaj in 1655 during the conquest of Javli. Shivaji Maharaj named the fort "Vyaghragad" (Vyaghra - means tiger), owing to its difficult natural defense. After Shivaji Maharaj, the brave Maratha Bajirao Peshwa carried on the Swarajya mission of ousting the Mughal invaders from our country. In 1818 however, British bombarded the fort with heavy artillery thereby destroying many buildings on Vasota (Chandika mandir, Daru-kothar, etc) & looted property worth 5 lakhs. Today the fort stands in a dilapidated condition in a thick jungle with remnants of Shree Mahadev mandir, the plinth of a huge "sadar" (discussion place), the fallen ramparts & spectacular view of Nageshwar peak & Shivsagar lake (Koyna backwaters)

There are two entrances to the fort Vasota. The first one lies in a dilapidated state. On entering the fort we see a Hanuman temple, now devoid of a roof. Three ways go ahead this temple. The path straight ahead takes to the remnants of the fort. The one on the left takes to 'Kalkaiche Thane'. On the way is a Mahadeo temple which can accommodate 2-3 people. Moving along the path you will reach 'Machi'. The view of the surrounding region is simply spectacular.

The path on the left of the Maruti temple takes to the joint water cisterns. Water in these cisterns was not potable in December 1st week. The way proceeds to a fascinating cliff named Babukada, shaped like the letter 'U' that reminds us of Konkan Kada of Harishchandragad. From Babukad one can see Old Vasota towards south. No way exists now that takes us to this fort. In addition there is an acute shortage of water. Also presence of wild animals(especially Bears) in the area keeps the trekkers away from this fort.

How To Reach

Proper forest permission needs to be seeked before entering forest of Vasota region. Permission can be seeked from Forest office at Bamnoli.

There are 2 main ways to reach the fort, one via Nageshwar and the one directly to Vasota.

Via Nageshwar :

It can be said that a visit to Vasota is incomplete without visiting Nageshwar. On our way to Vasota a distinct pinnacle catches our attention. This pinnacle is named Nageshwar. A cave is carved in this pinnacle with a Mahadeo temple inside it. Thousands of devotees crowd this place on Shivratri. Water droplets fall on the Shivling from the rooftop of the cave throughout the year. Most of the trekkers generally visit Nageshwar on their way to Vasota; the only constraint being a walk for a few miles.

Directly to Vasota :

a)From Satara: One can reach Vasota from Satara by three different routes.

i)Via Kusapur: Board a bus at 9 a.m. from Satara and reach Bamnoli. From here one should come to Kusapur by launch. From Kusapur 2 ways go through dense forest, the left towards Vasota and the one on the right towards Nageshwar.

ii)Via Met Indavli: Catch a bus from Satara and reach village "Bamnoli". You can arrange Boats from Shivsagar Boat Club (Max 12 ppl allowed in each boat. Per boat charges - Rs 600 \ boat). Then crossing the Shiv sagar lake (1pprox 1hr 20 min) by launch take you to village Met Indavili. From Met indavili tracks can be identified to reach Vasota Fort. There comes a junction in between, Left side take you to Fort Vasota and right side take you to Nageshwar Caves. The journey from Satara to Bamnoli is around 1 hr 15 min. Bamnoli to Met Indavili - 1hr 20 min. You can reach the fort of Vasota from this village after a climb of 4 hours approx.

iii)From Mahabaleshwar: From Mahabaleshwar get to Tapole village and then further arrive at Kusapur by launch. From Kusapur one can reach Vasota as described above.

b)From Chiplun \ Chorvan:

i)Board a bus from Chiplun at 8.30 a.m. and alight at village Choravane. It takes 5-6 hours to reach Vasota from this village. It is to be noted that there is no water on the way and one has to carry his own supply. After climbing for some time one comes across a plateau from where the path on the left goes to Nageshwar and the one on the right to Vasota. As we move ahead along the way to Nageshwar we see another path below that goes to a well through dense forest. We can cut short the total time to Vasota to just 2 hours if we take this path.

ii) Arrive at Tivre village from Chiplun. From here we can reach Vasota via the Rede Ghat.

One of the most famous ancient monuments of Georgia is located in Vardzia near the Armenian border. Built in the twelfth century, during the Golden Age of Georgia, by Giorgi III, this city of caves was originally intended as a military fortress.

At Mount Erusheli in southern Georgia State in the territory's history Samcche, near Aspindza. Precisely located on the left edge of the Mtkvari River, there is a historic building which was founded by Queen Tamar in 1185, in the form of a cave city Vardzia.

Cave city Vardzia also called Rock Vardzia Monastery is the largest architectural and historic complex in Georgia. Built carved and cut by steep rock cliffs. These buildings have a size of about 900 meters wide and 70 meters high.

Vardzia is remarkable cave city, which in its heyday housed 50,000 people, was actually carved into the side of the rocky cliffs. The entire cave complex is situated high up in the mountains to keep it safe from invading hordes. Vardzia is a very special place, considered a cultural symbol and a source of pride to Georgians, and a must-see for tourists who travel to Georgia.

RATHER HEDONISTIC, but certainly simpler compared to a woman's demands.

That's how the men's list of wants turned out to be when we asked them.

Here they are, but not in any order of importance: 1. Money, money, money. Put '10 crore or so in his account and never hassle him with tax issues - and voila, you have one happy man." Sure, it should all be in white. Men love the colour of money and they love it even more when it is white," says Tajinder Dogra, who responded to our previous article on " 30 simple things women want". Khitij Chawla, a biotechnology student, says: " Enough money to support all our frivolous expenditure, savings, EMIs and investments." 2. Six- pack, eight- pack, whatever.

These may be trends set by our Bollywood pin- up boys, but if they can do it why can't their fans? So men now want to pack some muscles into their abdomen. " Six or eight - anything would work for me," says Debanjan Chakraborty, trying not to sound too fastidious. However, some men wish they could be proud of their tyres. " We call it single pack, a sign of prosperity.

And women do like rich men... yet being fat isn't such a good idea," sighs Nitin Agarwal, a 27- year- old copywriter.

3 Women who don't expect us to be mind readers. They don't want silicon goddesses, or size- zero babes with the sex appeal of stick insects. But they wish women could be more direct in communicating. " They must specify if they just want to be listened to or they seek advice. Tell us what's wrong... or what you want and don't rely on telepathy to do it. Also, don't drag other issues into an argument... stick to the problem at hand," says Chawla.

4 A girl who can read our minds. When were men ever fair? They may not want to read a woman's mind, but they do want women to read what's on theirs.

Even if it means that they end up sounding a little like women. A woman with great telepathic skills - that's what they want. " Yes, a woman who can guess what's on my mind would be great. We too want to be showered with compliments - not daily, but say once a month," says Karan Joseph Raghavan, a reader who e- mailed us in response to the previous article, rather reasonably.

5 Maturity . Women grow up faster than men, experts say.

But men feel women should be more mature. " They all seem to be giggly girls trapped in women's bodies. But if they are so mature, why don't they know how to react when a man is angry?" asks Raghavan. Men want to play the angry young man and be left alone at times.

6 S. E. X. All things in life for a man revolve around the three- letter- word.

" We agree that men can't think beyond their pants. They think about it 25 hours a day. It is on top of every man's mind, heart, body and soul," admits Saurabh Arora, a 25- year- old marketing professional.

They also would love to have good- looking girls at their workplace. " There should be some eye- candy, especially in our team, so that we have someone to talk about while having a smoke," says Chakraborty.

7 S- P- A- C- E. It is sacred for them. They need it and crave for it badly. " We need a room of our own, where we can lock ourselves up and not be bothered even if the world falls apart," says Arora. It would be a dream- cometrue for a man to find a woman, who gives them that space.

8 Drink without snobbery.

Chuck taking in the aroma of wines and Scotch - this snobbery won't lead you anywhere. " We sometimes drink just to get sloshed, rather than enjoy the oaky smell of Scotch," says Chakraborty. Yes, even if wine snobbery is a great way to impress women.

9 A job that pays us to go on vacation. All of them seem to be big on adventure sport, even if they chicken out on a roller coaster ride.

" Trekking trips and adventure treks, all paid for.

Besides, providing that much- needed thrill in a man's life, they give us the break we want from the saas- bahu soap operas," says Arora. On screen and sometimes in real life.

10 Night out with the guys. At least once week, a stag night- out because they don't want their world to always revolve around the women in their lives. " Guys can have great fun together and that too with no strings attached," says Arora.

11 . Shopping is a pain at times.

" It's boring if you have to stay in one single shop for hours," says Chawla. It is quite painful when your mother/ sister/ wife/ girlfriend cannot decide on what she wants to buy, he adds.

12 To be the life of a party. So what if they can't move their bodies like Michael Jackson or a John Travolta. So what if they are good only at a bad bhangra or a saphera dance? Your man loves the idea of grabbing all the attention at a party and is proud of his dance moves even if they make you wince. Sure, women love to attract attention at a party too, but they are a little more mature about it... ahem! 13 To be the alpha male at work/ home. We evolved from apes. Call it animal instincts but men crave to be the alpha male, especially at work, with bosses scared of them and women co- workers swooning all over them. And getting paid for even insubstantial work.

14 Condoms. A super- saver, mega economy pack of condoms.

It is a terrible idea to scout for condoms in the middle of the night. A lifetime supply of condoms wouldn't be bad at all.

15 Jacuzzi + Sauna. A luxurious bath in a jacuzzi, a glass of beer and a sexy woman at one's side. Really, did women say that they like to spend hours by themselves in the bath? Maybe something can be worked out.

16 To be treated like babies.

" We are always pampering the women in our life," says Raghavan. " Except our mother, no one else pampers us that much. Sometimes we also want to be the baby in the relationship," he adds.

17 Sunday afternoon drinking.

A glass of chilled vodka with lime cordial would make for a perfect Sunday afternoon. Of course one shouldn't be howled at for doing the same. " We just want to relax on a Sunday afternoon," says Chawla.

18 Easy hair removal procedures . Not having to get up each morning and shave. Yes, men do discuss hair removal creams and waxing. " I am a hairy man. But instead of worrying about ways to get rid of body hair, I wish women would be more appreciative of out natural fur coat," says Agarwal.

If Julia Roberts could show off her hairy armpits, why can't men? 19 Buffer stock of boxer shorts and underwears. The last thing men want to do is to shop for underwear.

It's boring. " So a never- ending supply of boxer shorts would work for me," says Chawla.

20 Party every month . They want one big party a month without worrying about dropping drunk friends home or cleaning up the vomit on the carpet.

21 To be street smart. Whether they are street smart or not, men want to be known for their streetsmartness.

" People should get the impression that we have the solution for everything," says Chawla.

22 Gizmos, gadgets, mean machines. A car that would make heads turn. A smart phone with unlimited data connection, GPS and turn- by- turn navigation ( men don't like asking for directions) along with an organiser and reminders that can jolt you from slumber. " A giant screen high definition TV and hi- fi music system with digital data connection," says Chawla. Arora adds: " Of course everything should be affordable." 23 An excellent couch. Remember Joey and Chandler in Friends ? How they spent hours sitting on their lazy boy chairs drinking beer and watching Baywatch ? Well, it seems to be a man's ultimate fantasy to have a multi- purpose comfortable couch on which they can do all sorts of things.

24 People who drive in their lanes. " What does it take to get some traffic sense into some people?" asks Agarwal. They want people to drive in their lanes and obviously non- bumpy roads with no traffic. And yes, the traffic cops should treat us like royalty, says Agarwal.

Hindus and Muslims have quarreled for years over the history of the Babri mosque in Ayodhya, a town in Uttar Pradesh. Hindus claim that the Babri mosque stands over a temple built in honour of Lord Rama. They say that the Babri Mosque was built by Babur’s general, Mir Baqi, on the orders of the Mughal leader Babur post destruction of the Ram Mandir in 1528.

When the Muslim emperor Babur came down from Ferghana in 1527, he defeated the Hindu King of Chittodgad, Rana Sangrama Singh at Sikri, using cannon and artillery. After this victory, Babur took over the region, leaving his general, Mir Baqi, in charge as viceroy.

Mir Baqi allegedly destroyed the temple at Ayodhya, built by the Hindus to commemorate Rama's birthplace, and built the Babri Masjid, naming it after Emperor Babur. Although there is no reference to the new mosque in Babur's diary, the Baburnama, the pages of the relevant period are missing in the diary. The contemporary Tarikh-i-Babari records that Babur's troops "demolished many Hindu temples at Chanderi"

Palaeographic evidence of an older Hindu temple on the site emerged from an inscription on a thick stone slab recovered from the debris of the demolished structure in 1992. Over 260 other artifacts were recovered on the day of demolition, and many point to being part of the ancient temple. The inscription on the slab has 20 lines, 30 shlokas (verses), and is composed in Sanskrit written in the Nagari script. The ‘Nagari Lipi’ script was prevalent in the eleventh and twelfth century. The crucial part of the message as deciphered by a team comprising epigraphists, Sanskrit scholars, historians and archaeologists including Prof. A.M. Shastri, Dr. K.V. Ramesh, Dr. T.P. Verma, Prof. B.R. Grover, Dr. A.K. Sinha, Dr. Sudha Malaiya, Dr. D.P. Dubey and Dr. G.C. Tripathi.

The earliest mention of the Babri water well was in a two line reference to the Mosque in the Gazette of Faizabad District 1918 which says “There are no significant historical buildings here, except for various Buddhist shrines, the Babri Mosque is an ancient structure with a well which both the Hindus and Mussalmans claim has Miraculous properties.”

Ayodhya is a pilgrimage site for Hindus and the annual Ram festival is regularly attended by over 500,000 people of both the Hindu and Muslim faiths, and many devotees came to drink from the water well in the Babri Courtyard. It was believed drinking water from this well could cure a range of illnesses. Hindu pilgrims also believed that the Babri water well was the original well in the Ram Temple under the mosque. Ayodhya Muslims believed that the well was a gift from God. Local women regularly brought their new born babies to drink from the reputedly curative water.

The court will pass verdict on three key issues:

A) Is the disputed site in Ayodhya the birthplace of Lord Rama?

B) Was the Babri mosque built after the demolition of the Rama temple?

C) Was the mosque built in accordance with the tenets of Islam?

The September 24 judgement on the disputed land will pronounce if a temple will be built on the site or the Babri mosque will be reconstructed.
